Katachi provides a glimpse into the future of this medium, using touch technology as a key component in communicating strong editorial features.

Katachi’s design and editorial direction is a collection of East and West, modern and classic. We weave these pieces together, reflecting today’s complex world through a graphic, colorful and most importantly, interactive approach.

Origami Engine™ is the driving force that powers Katachi. A proprietary software suite built from the ground up, Origami Engine uses the full power of the iPad to create stunning interactive experiences.

Katachi Magazine is created exclusively for the iPad. There's no print siblings to hold it back, no foster parents to relate to; only the tablet and the magazine.

At no time in history have more people created as much across diverse areas of expertise. Katachi documents this process from thought to invention, design, creation, presentation, discussion and distribution. We look at people that inspire the world through their ideas and achievements.

Katachi is an international selection of design, people and business. The magazine chronicles global design culture, individuals who transform society, and the ideas that fuel our collective imagination.

Quite the pitch.

Simple thing is: Katachi is for the curious at heart. The searchers. Those who try twice even though they’re told not to. The people brave enough to look to others for inspiration but forges their own path. The ones who know what they want, but are open to new ideas. This magazine is for you.

You, and in particular your finger, is to us what paper is to a print magazine; the most important asset. You’re a master of touch, you’ve been touching stuff since you were born. To create a product that gives you the best possible experience with something you’re a master of meant we needed new tools. That’s why we created Origami Engine; an easy and powerful desktop tool for creating interactive publications. Our hope is that the simplicity of this code-less publishing process, coupled with a few grains of imagination, will spark a small digital publishing revolution. Do contact us if you feel like shaking things up.
